Netflix has created the right buzz around Ghoul, their horror-survival web series. Ghoul stars Radhika Apte, Manav Kaul and others as an interrogating team who comes across a mysterious man. The man, brought in for interrogation, makes every member of the interrogation team question everything around them. Rumors about the script suggest that the mysterious character is actually an alien – making this one of the very few Indian content pieces about aliens. Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul have featured in the teaser and the trailer. This new poster gives more insight into the series. The poster has a simple but chilling logo, and the tag line,
Paint the symbol. Summon the ghoul. Make them pay
This poster certainly adds to the eerieness that’s already part of Ghoul, a collaboration between Phantom Films and Blumhouse. This makes Ghoul the first Indian story told under the Blumhouse brand. Phantom Films recently tied up with Netflix to give Sacred Games, one of the best crime thriller web series that’s come out in recent times. Radhika Apte has worked in short films and films earlier. Manav Kaul recently made his web digital debut with a short film on YouTube.
Ghoul is the biggest horror project in post-modern Bollywood, and it seems eons away from the Ramsay brand of horror that dominated the box office back in the 70s, 80s and even 90s. With Anurag Kashyap and Blumhouse at the helm of this project, this promises to be a veritable feast for the horror audience – both in India and abroad.
