Murder on the Orient Express trailer makes you pine for Agatha Christie

Nobody did mysteries like Dame Agatha Christie did. One of her most controversial and most debated books, Murder on the Orient Express is now becoming a film. Because the script demanded it, half of Hollywood’s most talented bunch are here for everyone to see.


The film stars The film stars Branagh as Hercule Poirot, with Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer and Daisy Ridley in supporting roles. Both Pfeiffer and Dench return to the big screen after a long time. So does Penelope Cruz. Kenneth Baranagh as Hercule Poirot has quite a different look than the one that readers have become accustomed to in the later books.


Kenneth Branagh seems to have captured old England in only a way he can. The trailer succeeds in creating the old romance that an Agatha Christie novel had – and create a platform for the danger that creeps somewhere in the background.


What’s interesting is that the person who’s killed has still not been revealed in the film. That character was one of the best written characters in Agatha Christie novels. Thriller novel fans will tell you that the character was one of the very best characters in thriller novels, period. Here’s the trailer for you. Murder on the Orient Express releases in November.


This is not the first time that film-makers have thought of making this iconic murder mystery in a film. The first big screen adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic mystery book was the 1974 film. It was also an episode in the TV series that told Christie’s stories, Poirot.
