Dinesh Vijan‘s upcoming Stree has us interested. Horror comedy is still a nascent genre and it’s interesting to see that a buzz has already been created around the film’s music. Indian horror films have rarely had good music – and possibly the first chartbuster from an Horror film was Woh Beete Din Yaad Hain from Purana Mandir. That changed in the nineties with Vikram Bhatt taking over the mantle of top horror film maker with his films like Raaz. Stree is billed as comedy horror and has some of the finest actors in the industry. There’s Rajkummar Rao, there’s Pankaj Tripathi, there’s Apaarshakti Khurrana and Shraddha Kapoor.
The trailers suggest Stree is based on the rural myth that a witch haunts roads and preys on young men and in this case, Shraddha Kapoor is playing the alleged witch. The concept is interesting and the film seems quite well made and Shraddha Kapoor shines throughout the trailer. One of the songs, Milegi, sang by none other than Badshah has a catchy tune and some amaze-balls choreography. Now, fans are making their own videos dancing to the song. Out of all the videos, Rima Shamo’s choreography stands out. That’s not just because she’s a good dancer, but also because she’s understood the song as well. There’s definitely something going on with Shraddha’s character in the song, her views and her mannerisms show that, and that’s perfectly captured by Rima in her video. Watch the video here:
Stree releases August 31st.
