Shraddha Kapoor is a versatile actress who’s now begun experimenting with her roles. Her last film saw her try to play a gritty character that was based on a real-life one. Now, Shraddha will be playing the female lead in the horror comedy Stree, which stars Rajkummar Rao in the male lead.
Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK write the film, while Dinesh Vijan produces. Amar Kaushik will direct Stree. Krishna and Raj have earlier given us the extremely entertaining zombie film, Go Goa Gone.
Shraddha Kapoor will definitely be a breath of fresh air to the horror genre in Bollywood. With newer and younger heroes and heroines not shying away from the horror genre, this certainly seems to be a good time to be a horror filmmaker in India.
Rajkummar Rao will also return to the horror genre with this film. He was earlier seen in one of the most successful horror franchises in India, Ragini MMS. Rajkummar Rao was the protagonist’s boyfriend in the first film.
It will be interesting to see this project, after all, it has some of the most talented names in Bollywood right now. What remains to be seen, though, is whether the horror community of India will accept a horror comedy.
