Nobody does horror better than the guys in the South. They are known for their bi and trilingual films, but Bollywood has yet to get a good taste of South horror. The last major South horror film that was remade by Bollywood was Bhool Bhulaiya, a surprise hit for that year.
While that was a horror comedy, Sidharth and Andrea Jeramaiah come together for an out and out Bollywood horror film – The House Next Door. For Bollywood, the film comes via Viacom18 and Sidharth’s Etaki Entertainment Production. This Bollywood horror film stars Atul Kulkarni too. The film will be released as Aval in the South. Milind Rau directs.
I liked the trailer overall. The cinematography captures the dark, intense look that the subject matter calls for. The trailer has equal parts jump scares as well as the eerieness that one would expect from a horror film. From the trailer, looks like Milind is taking complete advantage of the default Adults certificate and has put in as much of gore and bloodletting as he could possibly have, which is good news for horror fans all over the world.
Bollywood horror films have long been criticised for not having the gory content, which keeps them a slot below the Hollywood horror films. But with films The House Next Door, all that seems to be changing. Watch the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments section:
